About i-Viper
I-Viper is a project I did in Professor Carla Diana's seminar, Arch-728, PennDesign. This is a teamwork and my teammate is Yi Yang.
I-Viper is to record the dreams. In this project, we use EEG technology to analyze people's brainwaves. Then we use grasshopper to extract the data and draw patterns reflecting the emotion changes when people are dreaming.
It is said that our brain is like a sponge. We are going to forget half of what happened in our dreams within 5 minutes after waking up and 90% within half an hour. Also, it is also believed that dream can somehow reflect the subconscious and physical illness that a person is potentially going to have. So dream is really important for mental health, for doctors to research and make treatments.
We then focused on four basic brainwave. Alpha wave is responsible for relaxation. Beta wave is responsible for active thinking, focus and anxious. Theta wave is responsible for idling and is commonly higher in children. Focus data reflects focus status.
We designed four patterns four those data. By combining them together, we can easily find which emotion is the most actived.
For mental therapy, doctors can give more accurate treatments by analyzing these patterns. I-Viper is essential for data visualization.
After doing research, we used maya to generate the prototype and then 3D-printed i-Viper.
